This page explains what happens to the data you put into DevTool Desk's tools. The short version: almost nothing is sent to us, and what is, is minimal and transient.

Tools that run entirely in your browser

Most tools on this site — encoders, formatters, generators, text utilities, image and math tools — process everything locally using JavaScript in your browser. The text, files, or images you enter into these tools are never transmitted anywhere. We have no server-side record of what you typed, uploaded, or generated.

Tools that contact our server

A small number of network tools require a server to function, because browsers can't perform these operations directly: the DNS Lookup Tool, HTTP Header Checker, CORS Checker, and IP Address Lookup. When you use one of these, the domain, URL, or IP address you submit is sent to our server, which makes the corresponding request (a DNS query, an HTTP fetch, or a geolocation lookup) and returns the result to you. We do not log, store, or retain what you looked up. The IP Address Lookup tool also queries a third-party geolocation service (ipapi.co) to resolve an IP to an approximate location.

Local storage

Favorites, recently-used tools, and your dark/light mode preference are stored using your browser's localStorage. This data lives only on your device, is never transmitted to us, and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Cookies and advertising

This site may display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. For more on how Google uses data, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example, if a new tool requires server-side processing, or a new analytics or advertising provider is added — this page will be updated with a new effective date.
