Your public IP address

Look up any IP

What is my IP address? This page shows the public IP address your connection presents to the internet, along with its approximate location and network operator. You can also check any other IP address the same way, which is useful for finding out where a server or visitor is connecting from.

Frequently asked questions

Why does this need a server, unlike most tools here?

Your browser only knows its local network address, not the public IP your traffic appears to come from — that's determined by whatever sits between you and the internet (your router, ISP, or a VPN). This tool asks our own server what IP it saw the request arrive from.

How accurate is the location shown?

IP-based geolocation is approximate — it's usually accurate to the city or region based on how the IP address block was allocated, not a precise physical location. VPNs and mobile networks in particular can show a location far from where you actually are.

What is my IP address?

Your IP address is the public address that websites see when you connect. It's shown at the top of this page as soon as it loads. Your ISP (or your VPN) assigns it, and it can change over time.

How do I check the location of an IP address?

Enter the IP address into the lookup field. You'll see its approximate location and the network operator that owns the address block. Treat the location as a rough guide rather than an exact address.
